Speakers & presentations

  • Corey Ford - Making Punk Music with an AI Max Patch

This talk will demonstrate a Max for Live patch where users can control variations on a MIDI input by interacting with a generative AI model. The challenges of how the patch was then appropriated into the real-world music practice of a punk rock band will then be discussed.

  • Francisco Colasanto - Algorithmic Innovation in Contemporary Music

Composers who use algorithmic composition techniques in one way or another are constantly renewed. It is no longer an exclusive discipline of academic music. Proof of this is that some commercial software such as LogicPro, Ableton Live and Reason incorporate algorithmic tools for music creation. This results in the emergence of new music of varied styles that are based on these techniques. AMI is a tool created in Max for Live that allows you to easily generate symbolic data from algorithmic processes. Among the possible generation techniques are those of L-System, chaotic, random, genetic and cellular automata. In addition to this, it allows to classify the sequences generated and hierarchize them from different analysis techniques.
