DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday 26th February\, 6.30pm \n\n\nLocation: Unit 15\, 5–10 Corbridge Crescent\, London E2 9DS \n\n \n\n“The project revolves around trying to make sound using analogue optoelectronics. \nWe have a plan to build a keyboard that allows light to filter through etched microscope slides that traverse the light beam as they are pressed\, with a sensor that will pick up the variances in the light that passes that will create a unique tone to the sound. \nWe also hope to make spinning transparent disks that light will pass through to further add tone to the sounds. \nUse of prisms to slit lights could possibly add further harmonics to arrays of sensors. \nUltimately we would like to have a synthesiser that will give the operator the ability to change all the sounds by replacing and/or customising various physical light filters. \nFor a rich authentic sound we are not using any digital components. \nWould be great to get a bigger team\, perhaps to focus on different parts(sensors\, filters\, housing\, design\, marketing) \nKickstarter would be great if we can get a simple plan for a viable product together. \nVery early stages so ideas very welcome.” \nSL \nHow to find us?  \nThe closest tube stations are Cambridge Heath Road station (5 minutes walk)\, Bethnal Green (Central Line – 10 minutes away) and Hoxton station (Overground – around 15 minutes). \nWe look forward to seeing you at our space!

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a circuit bending/hacking sound toys workshop\, led by sound artist Tasos Stamou. The workshop provides an introduction to modifying techniques and alternative electronic instrument designs. It is suitable for beginners as well as to more experienced hackers and sound explorers to push forward their ideas and projects of innovative sound interfaces. \n– Learn the necessary techniques to turn hackable sound toys into useful sound devices and electronic instruments\n– Practical\, hands-on workshop\, including all tips to the most easy and effective modifications\, also presenting musicians who utilize handmade and hacked instruments.\n– Everyone is welcome to bring their own electronic devices for bending\, otherwise hackable toys will be provided from a large selection. DESCRIPTION:With the new Embedded residency with Sound and Music for Spring 2015 announced\, we welcome you to meet our previous composer in residence Tim Murray-Browne. \nTim Murray-Browne will speak about his ten month residency at the Music Hackspace through Sound and Music’s Embedded Composer programme\,. This composer in residency programme resulted in The Cave of Sounds\, an interactive sound installation exploring the prehistoric origins of collective music making through the contemporary music hacker scene.
