SUMMARY:Meetup - TidalCycles with Calum Gunn
DESCRIPTION:Following our first TidalCycles meetup in April\, we’re pleased to be bringing this back for round 2 on June 19th. \nThis one will be more hands on than last time so we encourage you to bring a laptop if you’d like to make some noise. Headphones might be a good idea too. This meetup should be suitable for anyone whether you’re an experienced Tidal user or have never programmed before. \nTidalCycles (or Tidal for short) is a programming language for live coding pattern. It allows you to make musical patterns with text\, describing sequences and ways of transforming and combining them\, exploring complex interactions between simple parts. \nTidal is open source and can be downloaded for free here. If you have any problems with installation we’d be happy to help out in the meetup. If you’re keen to develop your Tidal knowledge beforehand\, there are plenty of great resources available. In particular\, the official website\, the Github and previous Meetup performer PixelPusher’s Github.  \nThe meetup is organised by Calum Gunn and Music Hackspace. Calum makes computer music and runs Conditional\, a label\, radio show and night based in London. Further celebrity Tidal users to be announced soon.  \n \nDrinks will be available from the bar next to the entrance to the New Wing of Somerset House. \nIf you have any questions about this event please contact info@stagingmhs.local. \n
