The Mobile Audio Hackers night meets the second Wednesday of each month to share knowledge, tips and tricks about coding audio on mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) of all persuasions. Potential topics include real-time synthesis, streaming audio, multipeer connectivity, Pd integration, and third party frameworks, with possible applications in live improv, arts projects, and game development, etc.

In this, our third meeting, composer and sound artist Katharine Norman will discuss her hybrid approach to iOS audio in her recent iOS text/audio-based apps, Window (for John Cage), and Paul’s Walk, which use a variety of software, including javascript, OpenFrameworks, and Pure Data. Katharine describes Window as ‘an interactive, immersive artwork, a sound essay about listening and everyday experience’. Paul’s Walk is ‘an interactive musical/text work for performers and iOS app’.

Meetup organiser Ron Herrema will also briefly talk about his exploration of real-time synthesis on iOS using The Amazing Audio Engine and Synthesis Toolkit.
