Course overview

This course is based on the expertise of Source Elements co-founder Robert Marshall. It is designed to teach voice over artists about remote recording workflows using Source-Connect, microphone, and audio interface. The course comprises seven lessons, covering a range of topics such as audio and network basics, digital audio, microphone types, sound waves and reflection, room acoustics, metering and gain staging, and remote ADR workflows. The course includes practical Source-Connect activities that can be completed in your own time. It will take 4-5 hours to complete.

Learning outcomes

Understand fundamental audio and network basics, and their application in remote recording

Identify different types of microphones, and understand sound waves, room acoustics, and sound reflection

Set appropriate levels for recording and metering

Setup and configure a DAW for remote recording, and understand the signal flow in digital audio

Understand the terms and concepts of remote Automated Dialogue Replacement (ADR) workflows, and set up a DAW for remote ADR

Acquire knowledge and skills in remote recording workflows using Source-Connect, microphone, and audio interface
