Building on more than a decade of research, development, and experimentation with spatial sound technology, 4DSOUND has pioneered the design of fully omnidirectional sound environments and developed the 4DSOUND Suite, an extensive set of tools used to create immersive performances, spatial compositions, and interactive installations.
4DSOUND’s approach to spatial audio is to think of the space as an instrument that can be played. Their systems can project Sound Holograms; sonic vibrations articulated through controlled dimension, localization, movement, resolution and interaction within space. This renders vivid listening areas without a ‘sweet spot’ in which sound is not heard as coming from speakers, rather, sounds appear in space as entities with a tangible physical presence, adding to the creative process the elements of motion and positionality.
In addition, 4DSOUND links together an ever-growing network of venues, artists, and musicians actively producing work for these state-of-the-art spatial sound systems.
In this talk, participants get an opportunity to learn about 4DSOUND technology, which entails specific software and hardware, and the creative possibilities of spatial audio as an emerging artistic discipline.
