A workshop on the fundamentals of FM synthesis built inside Max's Gen environment. It works through how frequency modulation generates complex timbres from simple oscillators, and how to construct an FM voice sample-by-sample in Gen rather than relying on prebuilt objects. By the end, participants could patch their own modulating and carrier relationships and shape the spectra that result.
